Director of Marketing — Natural Gas Products

Position Overview:
The Director of Marketing will lead the strategic development and execution of marketing and commercial initiatives to drive adoption of natural gas products (LNG, CNG, and NGLs) across Nigeria. This role focuses on demand creation, customer acquisition, market expansion, and revenue growth across industrial, commercial, power, and mobility sectors. The ideal candidate combines deep knowledge of the Nigerian gas value chain with strong commercial instincts, stakeholder engagement capabilities, and experience in energy or infrastructure markets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Market Strategy & Growth:
- Develop and execute a national marketing strategy for natural gas products (LNG, CNG, piped gas).
- Identify and prioritize target sectors (manufacturing, power generation, transport, telecoms, FMCG, etc.).
- Drive gas adoption strategies aligned with Nigeria's Decade of Gas initiative.
- Analyze market trends, competitor positioning, and pricing dynamics.
2. Customer Acquisition & Offtake Development:
- Lead customer acquisition efforts to secure long-term gas offtake agreements.
- Build and manage a pipeline of industrial and commercial customers.
- Work closely with Business Development to structure commercial offers and contracts.
- Support negotiations of GSAs (Gas Sales Agreements) and supply frameworks.
3. Product Positioning & Value Proposition:
- Develop clear value propositions for LNG, CNG, and virtual pipeline solutions.
- Position natural gas as a cost-effective and cleaner alternative to diesel and fuel oil.
- Design sector-specific solutions (e.g., embedded power, captive energy systems, mobility fuel).
4. Branding, Communications & Campaigns:
- Lead brand positioning as a trusted gas supplier and energy partner.
- Oversee marketing campaigns, digital presence, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Represent the company at industry forums, conferences, and government engagements.
- Develop marketing collateral, case studies, and client success stories.
5. Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with regulators, industry bodies, and government agencies (e.g., NMDPRA, NNPC stakeholders).
- Build relationships with EPC contractors, OEMs, and equipment suppliers.
- Collaborate with financing partners to support customer conversion (e.g., gas conversion CAPEX support models).
6. Commercial & Revenue Management:
- Develop pricing strategies in coordination with finance and operations teams.
- Monitor sales performance, margins, and customer profitability.
- Establish KPIs for market penetration, conversion rates, and revenue growth.
7. Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and engineering teams to align supply capabilities with market demand.
- Support project development (e.g., LNG plants, CNG stations) with market insights and demand validation.
- Lead and mentor the marketing and commercial team.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, Economics, or related field; MBA preferred.
- 10–15+ years of experience in energy, oil & gas, or infrastructure sectors.
- Proven track record in B2B marketing, commercial strategy, or gas sales.
- Strong understanding of the Nigerian gas market, including LNG/CNG distribution models.
- Experience working with industrial clients and large-scale energy users.
- Strategic thinking and market development; strong commercial and negotiation skills.
- Deep knowledge of gas pricing and supply structures; stakeholder management and government relations.
- Leadership and team development; data-driven decision-making.
- Preferred: experience with virtual pipeline (LNG/CNG trucking) models; familiarity with gas-to-power and embedded generation; exposure to carbon reduction / ESG positioning in energy markets.
- Compensation: base + performance bonus tied to gas sales volumes and revenue; long-term and deal-based incentives may apply (discuss with HR).
- Key targets (indicative): secure 3–6 anchor customers with multi-year contracts; drive plant utilization and diesel-to-gas conversion; build pipeline ahead of capacity.
