Westflux Achieves EIA Approval for Delta LNG Project

Westflux Integrated Services Ltd is pleased to announce a major milestone in the development of the Delta LNG Project: we have successfully completed the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and received official approval from the Federal Ministry of Environment.

Westflux Integrated Services Ltd is proud to announce that the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Delta LNG Project has received official approval from the Federal Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change (FMEnv). This approval is one of the most significant regulatory clearances required for the development of an energy facility in Nigeria and reflects our unwavering commitment to environmental responsibility.

What is an EIA?

An Environmental Impact Assessment is a comprehensive evaluation required by Nigerian law under the EIA Act (Cap E12, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004) for proposed projects that may have environmental consequences. The process involves detailed studies of the project site's ecology, hydrology, air quality, socio-economic environment, and potential project impacts — as well as robust stakeholder engagement.

Our EIA Process

The Westflux EIA for the Delta LNG Project was conducted over a period of 12 months by a team of certified environmental consultants, engineers, and community liaison officers. The study covered the Akarai-Aboh site and its surrounding environment in meticulous detail.

  • Baseline ecological surveys of flora and fauna, including aquatic species
  • Air quality and noise baseline assessments
  • Hydrological and floodplain risk modelling
  • Cultural and heritage impact survey
  • Socio-economic baseline study across 6 neighbouring communities
  • Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) risk register
  • Greenhouse gas emissions assessment and mitigation plan
  • Comprehensive 12-chapter EIA report submitted to FMEnv

Key Environmental Commitments

As part of our EIA approval conditions, Westflux has committed to a rigorous Environmental Management Plan (EMP) that will be monitored by both the Federal Ministry of Environment and an independent third-party auditor throughout the construction and operational phases of the Delta LNG facility.

“Achieving EIA approval is not just about ticking a regulatory box. For us, it represents the culmination of an honest, science-driven assessment of our project's environmental footprint — and a binding commitment to managing that footprint responsibly for the benefit of present and future generations.”
— Westflux Leadership

Environmental Performance Targets

  • Zero flaring during normal operations
  • Closed-loop water management system — no untreated discharge to waterways
  • Noise levels maintained within WHO and Nigerian standards at nearest community
  • Annual biodiversity monitoring programme
  • 30% reduction in operational emissions vs. equivalent diesel energy sources

With EIA approval now secured, Westflux moves forward with full confidence in the environmental integrity of the Delta LNG Project. We thank the Federal Ministry of Environment for their thorough and professional review, and we reaffirm our pledge to set the standard for responsible energy development in Nigeria.
