Westflux Secures NIWA Permits for Delta LNG Project Site Development at Akarai-Aboh

We are pleased to announce that we have obtained another key regulatory approval from the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), marking a major milestone in our project rollout at Akarai-Aboh.

Westflux Integrated Services Ltd is pleased to announce the successful acquisition of site development permits from the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) for our Delta LNG Project at Akarai-Aboh. This approval represents a significant regulatory milestone and clears the pathway for the next phase of physical infrastructure development at our chosen site.

A Critical Step Forward

The NIWA permits, which cover waterway access, jetty construction rights, and site boundary clearance along the riverine corridor at Akarai-Aboh, were formally issued following a thorough review process by the Authority. The permits align with our project timeline and validate the technical and environmental suitability of the selected site for small-scale LNG operations.

Our team worked closely with NIWA officials over several months, submitting detailed site surveys, hydrological assessments, and navigational impact studies. We are grateful for the professionalism and diligence shown by NIWA throughout this process.

What the Permits Enable

  • Commencement of site clearing and preparation works
  • Construction of a dedicated LNG loading jetty on the waterway
  • Establishment of access roads and perimeter fencing
  • Deployment of temporary construction facilities on site
  • Formal land mobilisation for our engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor

Leadership Statement

“Securing this permit from NIWA is not just a regulatory formality — it is a validation of the meticulous planning, environmental stewardship, and community-first approach that Westflux has championed since day one of this project. We are on track, and we remain committed to delivering the Delta LNG facility safely and responsibly.”
— Westflux Leadership

The Delta LNG Project at Akarai-Aboh is a flagship initiative aimed at monetising stranded gas assets in the Niger Delta region. Once operational, the facility is expected to produce up to 10,000 litres of LNG per day, providing cleaner and more affordable energy to industrial and commercial consumers across the region.

Next Steps

With NIWA clearance now secured, Westflux will proceed with mobilising our EPC contractor to site. Concurrent activities include finalising utility connection agreements, completing the FEED (Front-End Engineering and Design) phase, and engaging local contractors and labour from the Akarai-Aboh community in line with our GMOU commitments. We expect construction activities to formally commence in Q1 2026.

We thank all regulatory stakeholders, our project team, and the Akarai-Aboh community for their continued support and confidence in the Westflux Delta LNG Project.
