Westflux Secures NIWA Permits for Delta LNG Project Site Development at Akarai-Aboh

We are pleased to announce that we have obtained another key regulatory approval—this time from the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA)—marking a major milestone in our project rollout at Akarai-Aboh.

NIWA’s involvement is essential for aspects of the Delta LNG development that interface with Nigeria’s inland waterways, including safe access, responsible use of the waterway corridor, and alignment with national rules for navigation, dredging, and waterfront works.

Permits and consents covered

The approvals obtained through this engagement include, among others:

• Right of Way permit: Formal permission to occupy and use defined sections of the waterway and adjacent corridor required for lawful project access and logistics, consistent with NIWA’s statutory oversight.
• Dredging and access permits: Authorisation for controlled dredging, channel preparation, or other access works needed to support construction materials movement, marine logistics, and safe vessel operations where applicable to the site development plan.
• Waterway use compliance: Clarity on reporting, markings, safety practices, and ongoing conditions for operating within NIWA’s regulatory framework as the project moves from civil works toward mechanical completion.
